The member of this month is Margene Ricciardi with RE/MAX Alliance Central

Current Position?

Broker Associate, RE/MAX Alliance

One word that describes how you like to work?

Independently

What are you looking for from your WIFS members/memberships?

I am obviously not a Financial Advisor as you think of it but most homeowners have the majority of their wealth locked up in their home.  I wanted to surround myself with professionals that want more than a paycheck from their clients, people that truly care about their clients well being. Along with that I am hoping that I can become a trusted real estate advisor.

What's your favorite moment of your career?

This is a hard question.  Sometimes I will work with a client for several years encouraging them to get their finances in order and preparing to buy a property.  That is such a sweet moment when we get the go ahead and the client is able to find their  long awaited home. On the other hand, to be able to give options to an aging homeowner, working closely with their financial advisors and family members or if they have no one, being that person that can show them how they can get into a better position.  That is so rewarding.

What was your childhood dream job?

Funny but I wanted to be a "Stewardess", now known as Flight Attendants.  I wanted to just travel the world.  My family ties won out, I could not imagine being that far away from those that I loved so much.  Guess I am really just a home body.

How do you spend your free time?

If I have any free time, I love to work in my home and garden and just spend time with my family and dog.  I volunteer at church as the needs arise.

What is your motto or personal mantra?

Mine is "Pull yourself up by your big girl panties and keep moving forward, if only one breath at a time."   Martin Luther King put it more eloquently:  "If you can't fly, then run, If you can't run then walk, If you can't walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward."

What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

I worked the Gate/Ramp at DIA with United Airlines. Yes, I checked folks in, loaded luggage into planes, drove the tugs that pushed the planes and stood in front of them and directed the parking. What ever was on the schedule.  I had a blast.  My kids were teenagers and it was a place that I could run away to where they could not call and complain. I wore overalls and knee pads...  My kids were so afraid someone they knew would see me. Made me love it even more. Actually got the job by accident... I went to an interview with a friend that needed the job.

Not many can say this but I am a native of Denver.  I grew up in SE Denver and attended Cherry Creek School district when it was still a small distinguished district. I have been married 43 years and have two grown children.  After a few years as a Dental Hygienist in the early 70's, I found my way into real estate .  I began as a Sales Secretary for VanSchaack & Co in 1977 and worked my way through the industry.  I have been a Special Projects manager, worked with property managers and HOA's, worked with video production with my husband for the RE/MAX education platform and most recently, the last 16 years as a Broker Associate for RE/MAX Alliance.  My passion for my business comes from seeing so many people being taken advantage of, not having a voice or advisor when they are making one of, if not the, largest purchase they will ever make.  I never wanted to focus on one niche, I learn so much by have a very diverse clientele.  I love being able to help find solutions and, that is what we do.  From first time buyers struggling to get a foot hold to seniors looking at their home and deciding what their next move should be and how to capitalize on their gains.
